Chris Leon
Prior to joining Robert Navin at Real Time Risk Systems LLC in October
2004, Chris worked at TopCoder Software as a Project and Account
Manager. TopCoder is based in Glastonbury, CT, and works on developing
and applying new approaches to software engineering for clients. His
clients included Philip Morris USA, ABB, Pfizer and ING, who
represented about 33% of TopCoder Software’s revenue in 2004. His work
included managing ongoing development and design contracts at each
client, discovering opportunities for new projects, and developing new
processes to improve and expand upon TopCoders innovative engineering
processes.
Prior to his time at TopCoder, Chris worked at MicroStrategy, a leading
business intelligence provider, based in Vienna, VA. While there he
worked primarily on the Narrowcast Server product, which in 2001
accounted for roughly 25% of MicroStrategy’s $100 million annual
license revenue. His roles on the team included being one of three
software design leads, managing a team of three other engineers,
leading classes for training and education of consulting staff on major
product upgrades, and interacting with Product Management and customers
to gather feature requirements. Upon leaving MicroStrategy, he worked
as a free-lance consultant for various MicroStrategy clients to assist
in deploying major Narrowcast and Intelligence Server deployments,
including George Weston Bakeries and Polk Automotive.
His time as an engineering lead at MicroStrategy and a Project Manager
at TopCoder enabled Chris to develop his ideas to improve the speed,
consistency and reliability with which a software project can be
developed and maintained. Using ideas culled from a variety of software
development methodologies, he was able to assist TopCoder to refine
their processes to enable them to successfully implement custom
projects involving independent contractors dispersed worldwide.
Chris graduated with honors from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in
Computer Science in 1998.
