Marco Maccaferri

Marco has served as Head of Platform / Code Base at Real Time Risk Systems since 2022, overseeing the firm’s technology architecture and long-term development strategy. He originally joined the company in 2005 as Head of User Visual Experience, where he led Java UI development and successfully onboarded major hedge fund clients trading derivatives across global markets over many years. Marco has been continuously responsible for the look-and-feel of the Real Time Risk Systems user experience since the founding and prior to the production roll-out of the company product in 2006.

In addition to his leadership at Real Time Risk Systems, Marco is a seasoned and hands-on software developer with decades of experience in C/C++, Java, and Eclipse SWT/Rich Client Platform applications. His technical expertise covers the automated testing, continuous integration pipelines (Atlassian Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions), and enterprise support workflows using Jira and Mingle that are core technologies for Real Time RIsk Systems.

Marco has also contributed extensively to the open source community. His published projects include:

EclipseTrader - an Eclipse RCP-based application for online stock trading.

P8X Game System - a retro-style open source game console.

Spin Tools - a Java SWT-based IDE for the Parallax Propeller 1 and 2 microcontrollers.

Marco holds a High School Diploma in Industrial Electronics, from his native Bologna, Italy, providing the foundation for his career at the intersection of hardware, software, and financial technology.
